Get Cycling With KMX At Try-Out Days

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

KMX will have cycles for kids and adults on display at Try-Out Roadshows to be held at venues as far north as Scotland down to the south coast of England.

From mid-March through the end of July 2009, selected models of the company’s three-wheeled vehicles will be available for trial at 24 events run by local authorities, public health agencies, businesses, schools and universities to promote cycling for the health, fitness and environmental benefits such exercise can deliver (See the tentative schedule of KMX appearances below).

KMX’s first appearance will be on 14th and 15th March in the City of York, which received Cycling City status last December. The aim of York and the 11 other designated Cycling Demonstration Towns in the UK is to get more people cycling more often by running demonstrations and try-outs supported by leading cycle manufacturers.

Former helicopter engineer Barry Smith, the founder of KMX, is delighted that some of his trikes will effectively be “touring” around Britain in the coming months. “We aim to provide anyone who wants to cycle with a safe and sound product which offers excellent value for money and above all – a great deal of fun!”

KMX was started in 2002 by Smith and his wife Yvonne. Today, the company markets seven different models and records sales of some 3,000 trikes a year, with exports to 14 countries including North America and Canada, Europe, Australia and parts of Southeast Asia.

KMX Sponsors Charity Ride Across Britain (View Ben’s Video)

Friday, February 27th, 2009

KMX has officially announced its sponsorship of a charity fundraising cycle ride from the northernmost tip of Scotland to the south coast of England, to be undertaken by two university students this summer (Click here to view Ben’s video).

The company will provide two KMX Cobra trikes to twins Ben Parker, a first-year student at Cambridge, and his brother Tom, who’s currently studying medicine at the University of East Anglia, for a planned three-week ride from John ‘o Groats to Lands End to help raise money for the Naomi House Children’s Hospice and Cambridge Joint Playschemes organisations.

The boys hope to raise at least £3,000 or more in total from both members of the public and local businesses. They expect to complete their journey within three weeks and during that time, will try to reach the summits of both the highest mountain in the UK, Scotland’s Ben Nevis peak, as well as Scafell, one of England’s most challenging.

KMX Founder Barry Smith commented: “We are thrilled by the boys’ determination to ride KMXs up such rugged terrain. The Cobra is one of our high-performance models. Its basically designed as a three-wheeled mountain bike to give adventurous lads like Ben and Tom a thrilling ride which is very safe as well.”

The Parkers are expected to leave from John ‘o Groats on the 1st July.

AFGHANISTAN - You have probably heard people say this so often it annoys you by now but we love our karts! We snapped you some pics today. The shots of me might be particularly useful should you wish to point out to potential buyers that one need not be exceptionally fit nor attractive to enjoy a KMX. The huge beasty in the pic with Andy and I is a Rosamax Polish armored personel carrier….I can tell you is Andy and I are wondering just how long our celebrity status can last. We won’t be the only kids in the neighborhood on KMX’s for long according to some of the comments we are getting. Yer karts rock and so do you!
